(CSN) Enrico Fermi, Physicist, creator of the world’s first nuclear reactor. “Before I came here I was confused about this subject. Having listened to your lecture I am still confused. But on a higher level.”
Psalm 71:1 “In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion.”
Confused? We’ve all had times of confusion. The state of mind when we are uncertain about what is happening, intended, or required. We may not be clear in our mind about something. Synonyms may include disorder, chaos, turmoil or upheaval.
Confusion is not relegated to the unlearned; highly educated people may also have their bouts of being a little “at sea”. As the eminent physicist stated… confusion just happens at a higher level.
In the chaotic sphere of war, confusion is readily employed to gain a territorial or strategic advantage.
Isaiah 9:5 “For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood;” … noise or obscured vision in the battle arena only detracts from a soldier’s ability to recognize and confront his enemy.
With a plea for direction the prophet Jeremiah cries,
Jeremiah 4:21 “How long shall I see the standard, and hear the sound of the trumpet?”
Also, the discarding of a uniform and trading it for the enemy’s allows for ease of movement behind the battlefront. Anything to confuse the issue.
While there are many things our Bible gives God credit for, there is one disclaimer…
1Corinthians 14:33 “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace,”
Rather than bury our head in the sand and refuse to deal with confusing issues, we are rebuked for being simple-minded.
Proverbs 1:22 “How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?”
… we are encouraged to pursue knowledge.
Proverbs 15:14 “The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge:”
As we seek more knowledge, we can be overloaded with information and misinformation. This can lead to being confused. The seeker must exercise diligence to sort out the available data, separate fact from fiction or theory from reality.
While we consider the “Created or Not” topic if the subject is stripped to the core,
1) Something has to come from nothing.
2) That inanimate non-living something has to start to live.
These two points are clearly explained by the bible, as miraculous!
1) Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth.”
2) Genesis 2:7 “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”
These two points are confusing when “science explains” them.
Neither of the two above propositions belong in the “science” category.
Firstly, a Big Bang” engenders more questions and confusion, rather than an explanation.
“What went bang? How did it get there? Why did it go bang?
A “Slow process” explains nothing; but again, causes more confusion.
As proof, a typical “science” scenario usually revolves around showing a “variation within a species”. This is NOT the macro-evolution science wishes to prove; changing of one species into another different species.
J. D. Salinger “It’s funny. All you have to do is say something nobody understands and they’ll do practically anything you want them to.”
NOBODY UNDERSTANDS THIS!!!
Are we as intelligent people supposed to smile and nod as though this is a scientific discovery suddenly brought to light by a genius of fantastic intellect? Call it Greek mythology, a fable or a tall tale… but please don’t tell me this is science!
So, whether “Big Bang” or a “Slow Process” or a “Stickleback” fish or a child’s fairy tale called “Punctuated Equilibrium”, do we have questions answered? Or is the issue confused?
In the empirical scientific domain many, many topics require observation, measurement and theory. The advantage of a repeatable experiment is tremendous. A controlled field of study can bring true scientific knowledge by which we all benefit. So many things happen every moment around us and we are blissfully unaware of them.
Do I need to understand quantum mechanics for it to be happening all around me? Of course not. But I can easily be confused on the subject. Therefore, it is quite easy for someone to say something I don’t understand about it.
Questions remain. What is the truth about the origin of all things? How did life originate? Confused? God is not it’s author!
Hebrews 11:3 “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.”
No matter what one chooses to believe, you’ll need faith. Biblical faith in a Creator is not as confusing as believing in a vague and unproven theory. In fact, we understand…
Shannon A. Alder “The most confused you will ever get is when you try to convince your heart and your spirit of something your mind knows is a lie.”
